Worldwide Knit in Public Day
I think knitting is so creative and a skill. I cannot do it, I drop more stitches than I knit.
I remember years ago I tried to knit a scarf, well the state of it, didn’t look like a scarf but I tried. I really admire people who can knit and crochet

I have made two knitting cakes and they were so fun to make.
Knitting on a cake looks quite hard to master but actually it is easy to do and looks really good. The balls are simple. I used Rice Crispie Marshmallows to make the balls, covered with sugar paste, and made long coloured sausages to go over them. Took a while to do and the ball had to be covered to look like wool. had to put more sausages on top as well to look like another layer of wool. The knitting needles were easy as well made from modeling paste. So effective yet easy. I left the cake overnight to rest before putting the balls of wool on the cake as they were heavy and would have dented the icing when soft.
When you are designing a cake, some models are easier to make than others but I do like a challenge sometimes.
