Cake trends 2023
Hey it’s 2023 already happy new year to you all
I have been reading about the trends for 2023, useful reading
So the cake trends of 2023 are
Fake bakes so buy a supermarket cake and decorate it yourself. Yes, it can be done but will taste different from a home-baked one. Have you done that??
Oil-based sponges as the cost of butter is so high, you can use butter and oil combined
Luxury cakes so there is money around and people are prepared to pay more money for a better cake. This is a beautiful glittery wedding cake I made earlier in the year.
Allergen cakes they are on the increase as a lot of people now have allergies. 50% of children and 44% of adults in the UK have an allergy. Last year I made 2 gluten-free cakes in a week and over Christmas 3 cupcake trees went out gluten-free this is quite a lot. People can’t help it if they have an allergy they still have to eat and celebrate their birthdays. Cupcake tree below
Comic cakes are popular as well, they have black icing on so yes look like a comic. They can be made as cupcakes as well.
Kinder Bueno Cakes
Sort of like a chocolate drip cake, with Bueno chocolates on, yum, so tasty.
I have made one similar but this was my last cake with Bueno chocolate on a figure 9 for a lovely young lady, she so loved
So what’s not in the predicted cake trends of 2023
Cupcakes, I don’t really believe they won’t be in as they are so popular so we will have to wait to see it to believe it
Macaroons they apparently won’t be in, some people like them and some don’t. I have to put them on a cake next week for the first time.
Edible flowers, like nasturtiums or pansies. They look so pretty though
Fresh fruit and fresh flowers on cakes. The price of fresh fruit has gone up so much and flowers have as well. Personally, I think fresh flowers will be still used on cakes but maybe not so much fruit. Fresh flowers look so pretty on cakes but you have to watch which ones you use as some are poisonous. I only use roses and carnations on my cakes. They do look pretty.
I loved making this one, looks so colorful. Can’t believe they are not as popular now.
So there you have it, the Cake Trends 2023. What do you think, we will have to wait and see.
Happy baking
