Just been reading about new cake trends this year. I am taking a look at last year and comparing it to this year. See below

Over the last year 2021, we had bold and bright colours, hand-painted cakes, buttercream cakes, textured cakes, sprinkles, yes in different colours, and put on everything. Isomalt, dried flowers and fans, brushstroke cakes, and more. The baking trends 2021 are taken from DrOetker.com discusses vegan cooking including sweet sugar cookies, chewy meringues, fruity crumbles, red velvet cakes, etc. This month is veganuary and a lot of people are taking part throughout the world.

This year 2022 we have different cake trends to look out for including gravity-defying cakes according to (good homes magazine). See below. Bubbly cakes which are very pretty and of course the popular drip cake. They also mention high tea which is so yummy similar to afternoon tea and dessert boards. The difference is with afternoon tea you get scones, sandwiches, cakes, and tea. High tea includes more savoury foods including meat, fish and eggs. Vegan cakes are still in and will be trending again this year. I have tasted some delicious vegan cakes, even made some vegan hot chocolate bombs for Christmas and they went really well. Will be making some again for Valentine’s day.

The cake decorating trends of 2022 according to foodheavenmag.com include panettone colours, very peri purple. The Lambeth method, yes royal icing is making a comeback. It is lovely and a great skill to learn. Architectural shapes and cakesicles. Of course, the size of the cake will be getting taller this year as well. My panettone cake this year

Hope you like it, I do. It is my first topsy turvey cake, never made one before. It is very bright and not that difficult to do. It was a challenge, but not that difficult.
