So it’s World Book Day today, do you like reading?? I do
I find reading books relaxing but there are hundreds of books to choose from fiction, horror, romance, children’s to name a few. I especially enjoy reading books on holiday by the pool, it’s great and so relaxing.
A memory from when my children were in primary school. On World Book Day every year when I picked them up from school we used to go into the hall together and they would choose a book so we still have loads of books.
World Book Day History for you
This is run by the World Book Day charity, this is a fantastic and popular annual event, with a mission of bringing children together to celebrate reading. Which is great for all ages especially getting children to read.
World Book Day was originally created by UNESCO and was first celebrated in April 1995. The UK isn’t the only country that celebrates World Book Day! It is celebrated all over the world on 23rd April but in the UK it always runs on the first Thursday in March. For more details on which countries celebrate World Book Day, check out the UNESCO website https://en.unesco.org/commemor….
I have made cakes with book interest e.g Harry Potter and cakes with books as not the main theme but an extra like a cake and a model in an armchair with books by the side. Lots of cakes today have book themes as there are so many books about to read. I still have cake decorating books from ages ago when Royal icing was still popular, but that is an art to perfect. I keep my old cake decorating books for ideas, just in case I need them for cakes if people are still interested in Royal Icing cakes especially if it’s for a golden wedding anniversary.
Looking for inspiration for a cake?? Have a look at my children’s cakes, some of them I don’t want to give away
Happy baking
